A new multi-year, 3-dimensional ozone climatology has been constructed, tested and now ready for UGAMP community to use. The new climatology combined several sets of satellite observed data and ozone sonde data. The satellite observations of SBUV, SAGE II, TOMS and SME has been included. The horizontal resolution of the climatology is 2.5x2.5 latitude by longitude and extending from the ground to 0.001mb vertically. The details of the new climatology and its differences from the ECMWF parametrized internal ozone climatology and the CIRA based 2-dimensional external ozone climatology and their effects on the UGCM/EUGCM models can be found in UGAMP Internal Report No. 35.
The new climatology can be accessed by anonymous ftp from CGAMP in Reading. The data is in /pub/sage/comb3d/ and there are 5 years climatology available. An utility program, which can transform the climatology to any user required grid either horizontally or vertically or calculate zonal mean, is also provided with the data. Since the data is stored as integrated column ozone amount from the top of the atmosphere to the given pressure levels (in Dobson unit), an example program to calculate mixing ratio is also available with the data.
