Conference details This year's annual UGAMP Conference will take place at Reading University over 3 days: Wednesday 16 July to Friday 18 July. The conference will be held in the Sutcliffe Lecture Theatre in the Department of Meteorology, which is situated on the Earley Gate side of the campus. Posters will be on display in the main concourse near the coffee room. Parking and Travel If at all possible you are advised to use public transport. If you do drive, there should be some parking available at the Hall and at Earley Gate. You can reach Whiteknights Hall from Earley Gate by driving round the perimeter of the campus, but there are no roads across the campus linking the two. If you are travelling by bus from Reading Station, please note that changes have been made recently to some of the bus stops. From Reading Station to the Department, you can take the No. 17 bus from Friar Street (outside HMV) to the `Three Tuns'. On the return journey, the best stop at which to alight for the station is outside Blackwells (then turn right and walk past the post office to the station). From Reading Station to Whiteknights Hall, the No. 41 runs every half hour from outside the station (outside the pub) to Upper Redlands Road, opposite the Hall. Other buses (7, 8, 12, 20, 55, 56, 57) go from near the taxi rank outside the station to the main Queen's Drive entrance to the University. It is then a short walk to the Hall. There is a map of the Reading University campus available here. |
Accommodation Accommodation, including breakfast, will be in Whiteknights Hall, which is off Upper Redlands Road (about 20 minutes walk across the campus from the Department). The key to your room can be collected from the Porter's Lodge of the Hall on Wednesday 16 July, either before the start of the conference or during the day. There are no arrangements for lunch. Attendees will be expected to find their own. Conference Dinner The UGAMP Conference Dinner will be held on the evening of Wednesday 16 July in Whiteknights Hall at 7.30 pm. The bar will be open from 6.45 pm. Dress is informal. Expenses The cost of the UGAMP meeting, travel, accommodation, breakfast and the conference dinner will be met by the Centre for Global Atmospheric Modelling (CGAM), Reading, for all UGAMP and UGAMP - affiliated researchers. UGAMP researchers can claim for the actual cost of meals up to a maximum of 4 pounds for each lunch and 8 pounds for dinner. Where UGAMP groups have arranged coach travel to the meeting, CGAM will only pay for the coach and will not reimburse travel expenses for UGAMP researchers who do not use the coach (unless other arrangements have been agreed in advance with Alan O'Neill). Expense claim forms can be obtained from Anne Pinnock if your local site does not have any. Please return the forms to Anne (not to Reading Finance Office) at the following address: Anne Pinnock, CGAM, Dept. of Meteorology, University of Reading, Earley Gate, PO Box 243, Reading RG6 6BB. |
